Ohtani Tetsuya

Ohtani Tetsuya is one of my favorite ceramic artists in Japan. Unlike the usual artists he uses porcelain on a wheel which enables him to make his pieces hard and thin.
What impressed me most was the cut surface on the back of the plate.
Since it is made on a wheel he just cuts it off with wire. He betrays the expectations in a good way. His site is only in Japanese though you can see his works.

The photo is Soba choko (Small cup used for buckwheat noodle) I'm using it as a coffee cup.
