Sasaki Tsuneko

All the tableware she makes are thin. She only makes her ceramics in two colors, white and black. I like the black ones because they are mat meanwhile the white ones are glazed. She makes it on a wheel so each of them is little bit different in size and shapes. It looks best when you put vegetables on it.

Which chopstick rest do you like?

Left above by Watanabe Hiroyuki.(Wood)
Right above forgot who made it.(Ceramic)
Left and right below by Sasaki Tsuneko.(Ceramic)

Warabi (bracken) Chopstick rests

Forgot who made this chopstick rests. Japanese like to use thing representing the season. For example plum three for early spring, cherry blossoms also for spring, maple leaf for autumn, Camellia japonica for winter and much more. Since changing tableware is sometimes a hassle most Japanese don’t do it any more…

Matsushita Takafumi

This glass is about 8cm tall.
His glasses are not clear they are bit cloudy since he lives in Kanazawa where the weather is gloomy all year around.
The little dot is made of beads, you can see little holes if you look at them closely. Since he makes each of them by hand they are never identical.

Iron Base for mosquito-repellent coil by Simplicity Super Studio

I have never seen such a beautiful iron base before. It’s perfect when you put the green coil in it. Recently we use electronic mosquito-repellent which lasts more than 30days. I do not use them often because it hurts my throat. I've tried this one too but the smell was much stronger….So now I’m using this as a jewel case.
Simplicity Super Studio sells modern design ceramics , irons, bronzes, polcelains, urushi, and pewter.

What’s so great about their design is that it isn’t completely out of touch from the traditional design. Traditional designs can be sometimes too much…T-T

Isado Workshop

What makes his work so special is that he uses scraped woods that were tore down from an old house. He once told me that it is hard work to distinguish the real scrap from the renewable ones. He’s the one who gives these woods a new life. If not their just thrown away. The tray was made from the ceiling board. The frame was made from the balcony rail.It seems old but to me it looks new.
